Hysterectomy Consultation

Empowered Decisions Through Clinical Expertise

Deciding to have a hysterectomy is a significant step in your healthcare journey. At Queen Bee Gynecology, we believe this decision should be made with confidence, clarity, and the support of a specialist. Led by Dr. Beena J. Green, our consultation process focuses on a comprehensive review of your health history and symptoms. We prioritize exploring all evidence-based alternatives first, but when surgery is the best path forward, we specialize in minimally invasive techniques. Our gynecology-only focus ensures that your consultation and subsequent care are provided in a focused environment, allowing you to discuss your options without the rush or interruptions of a high-volume obstetric practice.

Our Process

Your Journey to Specialized Care

We believe that informed patients make the best health decisions. Our process is designed to be transparent, supportive, and convenient.

Comprehensive Symptom Review

Beyond the Diagnosis. We start by discussing how your condition—whether it’s fibroids, endometriosis, or heavy bleeding—is impacting your life. Dr. Green listens to your goals, from pain relief to a permanent solution for chronic symptoms.

Exploration of Alternatives

Exhausting All Options. Before proceeding with surgery, we review non-surgical and less invasive alternatives. Our goal is to ensure that if a hysterectomy is chosen, it is because it is the most effective solution for your long-term wellness.

Surgical Education & Planning

Advanced Minimally Invasive Techniques. If surgery is necessary, Dr. Green explains the benefits of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic approaches. We provide a detailed roadmap of the procedure, including how we preserve ovarian function whenever possible to avoid immediate menopause.

Recovery & Beyond

Support Through Every Stage. Our care doesn't end in the operating room. We provide a tailored recovery plan designed to get you back to your life quickly, along with long-term monitoring to ensure your hormonal and pelvic health remain optimized.

FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Will I enter menopause immediately after a hysterectomy?

Not necessarily. If your ovaries are healthy and are not removed during the procedure (oophorectomy), they will continue to produce hormones, and you will not enter immediate menopause. Dr. Green will discuss the best strategy for your specific health needs.

What is the difference between a total and a partial hysterectomy?

A total hysterectomy involves removing the entire uterus and the cervix. A partial (or supracervical) hysterectomy removes only the upper part of the uterus, leaving the cervix intact. We help you weigh the benefits of each based on your medical history.

How long is the recovery for a minimally invasive hysterectomy?

Because Dr. Green utilizes advanced laparoscopic techniques, most patients experience less pain and a faster recovery than traditional surgery. Many patients return to light activities within 1–2 weeks and full activities by 4–6 weeks.

Can a hysterectomy be performed as an outpatient procedure?

Yes. Many of our minimally invasive hysterectomies are performed as outpatient procedures, allowing you to recover in the comfort of your own home the same day.
