Our Vision
Our Mission
Dr. Beena J.S. Green offers expert gynecology and menopause care from her office in the Northland. Dr. Green practiced in the community at NKC Health where she maintained an active obstetrics and surgical gynecology practice. The practice included robotic surgery, specialized care in VNOTES, a minimally invasive technique for gynecologic surgery providing sterilization and hysterectomy. She also earned her Menopause Society Certified Practitioner credentials. Dr. Green still actively engages in regular menopause and perimenopause education. While her practice grew, she learned from her patients that people in Kansas City have been searching for a dedicated space for gynecology and menopause care that has flexible availability, is patient-centered, offers treatments covered by insurance, and is physician-led.
Dr. Green is excited for the opportunity to provide care for her patients with sensitivity, inclusivity and her expertise. She understands the need for careful attention to individual comfort including the management of pain and anxiety regarding sensitive discussions, exams, and procedures. She has been performing major surgeries in an outpatient setting and is very proud of how well her patients recover being discharged home the same day for over 10 years. Ultimately, she feels most honored that consistently she receives feedback that she is a doctor who listens and offers a plan that works after making treatment decisions together with her patients.
The educational experience Dr. Green gained started when she entered the 6-year combined BA/MD program at the University of Missouri Kansas City from high school. While she grew up in Kirkwood, MO with her parents and 3 sisters, each fabulous aunties and strong members of their respective communities and professional fields in the St. Louis area, she quickly fell in love with Kansas City. She continued her training at UMKC including at University Health/Truman Medical Center, St. Luke’s Hospital, and Research Medical Center. She graduated from OBGYN Residency in 2014 and was presented with the prestigious Eugene W.J. Pearce, M.D. award, which is given annually to the outstanding graduating OB/GYN resident who best exemplifies core values like honesty, integrity, intellectual curiosity, humility, clinical competence, and dedication to community involvement. Soon after her training, she earned her Board Certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She enjoyed her first OBGYN practice in the rural setting of Rolla, MO for seven years where she participated in hospital leadership, regional and national maternal health advocacy, and continues to maintain close friendships. She shaped her practice as a local resource for LGBTQIA+ patients and provided care for gender diverse patients. She was the first robotic gynecologic surgeon at Phelps Health and gained her Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery-focused practice designation as a board certified OBGYN, which she continues to maintain. She also gained some of her most proud achievements in the education of medical students including several who have since become practicing OBGYN doctors themselves. Her awards included “The Rolla Daily News Best of Phelps County” annually from 2017-2020, the AMA Women Physicians Section “Inspiration Award”, and the “Phelps Health Preceptor of the Year” in 2019.
Moving back to Kansas City in 2021, she worked as an academic faculty member and clinical assistant professor in the University of Kansas Health System (KU) OBGYN Residency where she practiced at the main medical campus for OBGYN, telehealth, the Gender Diversity Clinic as well as an office in Prairie Village, KS.
Private practice is not new to Dr. Green—she strongly believes in the practice model that shaped her love of medicine growing up in and around her parents’ family-owned C. Shekar MD office open for nearly 30 years, now in the new Shekar Family Practice. While her father, a well-loved family physician, has since passed away, her mother continues to offer this style of compassionate family medicine care after earning her doctorate level degree as a nurse practitioner. She is honored to carry on this tradition.
Dr. Beena Green lives with her husband, a Gladstone native, and three children in the Northland. Her family has supported her through personal experience as a mother of twins and a child in survivorship from cancer. Together, they share a love of music, movies, sporting events, live shows, reading, and their dog, a basset hound, named Gilmour Solo.
